Green and Cost-Effective Separation of Cadmium from Base Metals in Chloride Medium with Halide-Loaded Anion Exchanger

A novel strategy for the separation of cadmium from base metals in chloride medium by anion exchange based on formation halo-complexes is presented this article. Instead using excess Br− or I− feed solution, resin fibre was first preloaded with Cd2+ adsorption Cl− solution. Thus, consumption iodide bromide minimized while promising high stability Cd2+. The thermodynamics and kinetics were studied. results processed Langmuir Freundlich models treated Pseudo order model, second model intraparticle diffusion model. mechanism studied aid FTIR elemental analysis. Three strategies applied stripping Cd2+, including use water disequilibrating its halo-complex formation, positively charged species ammonia, chelate multidentate ligand ethylenediamine. On bases these results, performance investigated strongly basic fibre, it shown that can be efficiently separated a wide range acidity, pure solution obtained, thus providing robust, environmentally friendly, economic technology separation.
